2. Sanitizing: Occasionally sanitize with a mixture of vinegar and water or a diluted bleach solution (1 tbsp bleach per gallon of water) to kill bacteria.
    
3. Dry Thoroughly: Always dry the board completely before storing to prevent warping or mold growth.
    
4. Oil Regularly: For wooden boards, apply food-grade mineral oil every few weeks to prevent drying and cracking.
    
5. Remove Stains and Odors: Sprinkle with salt or baking soda and scrub with a lemon to clean deeper and neutralize smells.
